NAHCO Commissions New Cargo Warehouse at Lagos Airport

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) commissioned a new export-processing warehouse at Lagos's Murtala Muhammed International Airport on 12 April 2018, part of a push to modernise handling capacity for the airport's growing perishable-cargo trade.

Addressing a Longstanding Bottleneck

Exporters of fresh produce had for years complained of spoilage caused by delays in the airport's ageing cargo sheds. The new warehouse added dedicated cold-storage bays and additional screening lanes intended to shorten the time cargo spent on the ground before loading.

Part of a Wider Upgrade Plan

NAHCO said the warehouse was the first phase of a broader investment in its cargo infrastructure, with further upgrades to refrigeration capacity planned pending the outcome of the initial rollout.
