Medview Airlines suspended its scheduled domestic operations on 8 February 2018 after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority raised concerns over the airworthiness documentation of several aircraft in the carrier's MD-83 fleet, an airline spokesperson confirmed.
A Fleet Under Scrutiny
The airline had operated a mixed fleet of ageing McDonnell Douglas aircraft on routes linking Lagos to Abuja, Port Harcourt and other domestic cities. Engineers were said to be working through a backlog of maintenance checks before any aircraft could be cleared to resume flights.
Passengers Redirected
Travellers holding Medview tickets for the affected week were rebooked onto flights operated by other domestic carriers at no extra cost, the airline said, adding that it hoped to resume a reduced schedule once the regulator signed off on its fleet.
