Max Air added a Boeing 737-400 to its fleet on 30 July 2018, weeks ahead of the annual Hajj pilgrim airlift, when the Kano-based carrier typically runs one of the largest charter operations of any Nigerian airline.
Easing Seasonal Capacity Pressure
The airline said the extra aircraft would help reduce the scheduling strain of running both its regular domestic routes and the intensive block of pilgrim charter flights to Jeddah and Madinah that dominate its July and August calendar.
A Recurring Seasonal Challenge
Nigerian pilgrim welfare boards have in past years flagged delays in the Hajj airlift tied to aircraft availability. Max Air said the addition was intended to build in more schedule buffer for the current pilgrimage season.
