FAAN Begins Runway Rehabilitation at Port Harcourt International Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) began phased rehabilitation of the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport on 21 August 2018, following a routine pavement inspection that flagged surface deterioration in several sections.

Overnight Closures to Limit Disruption

FAAN scheduled the resurfacing work in overnight blocks, keeping the runway available for scheduled daytime traffic while contractors worked through each section in turn. Airlines were notified in advance so they could adjust late-night cargo and charter movements.

Part of a Wider Pavement Programme

The agency said the Port Harcourt works formed part of a broader schedule of pavement inspections across its network of airports, with further rehabilitation programmes to be announced depending on inspection findings elsewhere.
