The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) unveiled design plans on 8 June 2017 for a new domestic terminal at Lagos's Murtala Muhammed Airport, aimed at replacing a terminal building that had for years drawn complaints over overcrowding and outdated facilities.
Doubling Check-In Capacity
The proposed design roughly doubled the terminal's check-in capacity and added new boarding gates, responding to years of passenger complaints during peak morning and evening travel periods on the Lagos-Abuja corridor.
Seeking Concession Partners
FAAN said it intended to seek private concession partners to help finance construction, following a model the agency had used on other terminal projects, though no construction timeline was given at the time of the announcement.
